Blurb
Aron, a postman with Marioson Postal Service, found an abandoned bag. It had a few letters that were supposed to be delivered - 20 years ago. He had a choice, either to deliver them now, or abandon them forever. He chooses the former.
What were these letters all about?
Who wrote them?
Who are the recipients?
Do these letters still carry a value, after 20 years?
Review
What appealed to me the most about this book is its title. "Undelivered Letters" - the phrase seems to hold so deep a meaning within it. This is the second book of J Alchem that I'm reading and his other book "The Highway Man" indeed taught me to look into the deeper aspect of a story. "Still waters run deep" - indeed the apparently still (simple) story harbours so deep meanings. The undelivered Letters signify messages which have somehow made their way into the paper but failed to reach the hands of the recipient. The story portrays a postman,Aron, who finds the bag of abandoned letters, written twenty years ago. He could have easily ignored them, but something in him drives him to pick them up and sent to the address that for so long had waited to receive those letters. The story makes you feel a roller coaster of emotions while you turn each page. The letters will make you smile and weep at the same time. Twenty years haven't changed the content of the letters but with each passing year, a layer of emotions got associated with them. The message and their meanings become deeper, capable of reaching a greater depth inside our heart. Author J Alchem has an uncanny ability to make his readers stay glued to the story till the end. He knows how to play with your emotions. Throughout this book he'll make you think like him and feel like him. He knows how to bridge the gap between the writer and the reader. Yes he's successful in it because at the end you'll feel it's your story, you're not a reader but a part of the story. That's what has turned a simple story into a creation!
The title is so intriguing. The cover could have been better though. The theme is really good. The blurb is short and crisp. The language is beautiful.
The emotions will leave a deep impact upon your mind and soul long after you've closed the book. One of the best books I've read this year. You just can't afford to miss it.
