Book Review : Castles In The Air by Sangeet Sharma
Author - Sangeet Sharma
Publisher - Rumour Book India
Blurb
Laughter is said to be the best elixir and the book is a satire on architecture written by one who knows the bricks and concrete of the profession by heart. The author, an architect himself, delves into the journey of a professional practice. The book is witty with acerbic humour. Every scene unfolds like a screenplay leaving the reader amazed by the brutalities of life in architecture and life itself. 'Castles In The Air' is the honest affirmation of an architect's voice and the connection with the reader is immediate.
Review
It has been long since I've read a book on this genre. And this book has once again proved that humour and satire are one of the best ways to portray the graveness of something or may be the harsh reality. This book is a satirical account of an architect's life. It's a presentation of the different episodes in the life of an architect, from education, student life to chaos, professional life. Through this book, Sangeet has literally exposed the flaw that lies in the system and highlighted the reality against the expectations.
The title is interesting. The cover also complemented very well. The language is simple and engrossing worth appreciating. The witty dialogues added a magical touch to the book. It is really worth appreciating that the author has dared to write a book on this theme. The plot looks one, that is difficult to give a shape, yet the author has come up with flying colors.
